Our School
Emmanuel School was established in 1988 by East Midlands Christian Fellowships as the church recognised that the secular education system was failing to supply our children with the foundations they needed to mature in their Christian faith. As a result we have established a school where Christian beliefs and atmosphere are central.
The curriculum we have developed is designed to train our children in godliness and integrity as well as equip them with the skills and knowledge they will need for living. We aim to provide all this in a loving and disciplined environment where each child is valued and encouraged in the fulfilment of their God-given potential.
who is Emmanuel for?
Emmanuel School is open for all those whose parents or guardians share our mission and values and will support the school in its practices.
Emmanuel School gladly accepts children from all church and faith backgrounds (including no faith at all) and from all spheres of society.
We accept children from across the city of Derby and beyond where it is feasible for the child to travel school and for the family to play its full part in school life.
Emmanuel School receives no Government funding for children beyond reception and although it is necessary therefore to charge a fee for each child’s education we make every effort to ensure that children are not excluded on grounds of finance alone.
Administration
Since February 2020, the school has been run by Emmanuel School (Derby) Limited, a charitable company set up to take on the running of the school. The trustees of the company are responsible for the financial running of the school and ensuring it complies with regulations. It is the responsibility of the Board of Governors to ensure that the School pursues excellence through operating to the highest standards, complying with all of the relevant national guidelines and policies and in fulfilling its mission to educate the whole child to serve the whole world and bring glory to God.
The running expenses of the school are financed by the fees.
